London’s Marylebone Hotel doesn’t advertise a star rating.

Step inside to the mood music, mosaic tiles and muted tones, however, and it doesn’t exactly scream ‘backpacker!’

One of three Doyle Collection hotels in London, the Marylebone’s luxury fit is complemented by a plum location, ten minutes by foot from Bond Street. It also packs over 250 rooms into a property that still manages to feel boutique. Rooms range from decidedly compact standards to penthouse suites, and crushed velvet, damask prints, sleek glass and recessed lighting run throughout.

A relatively recent refurb means everything feels fresh, a €2.3m spa and health club added this year include London’s longest pool (18 metres), and details range from super fresh OJ at breakfast to the offer of fun-sized refreshment towels at check-in.

Four stars, anyone?
