This is the newly refurbished Kennedy Suite at The Malton Hotel, Co. Kerry.

The former Presidential Suite has been re-named to recall the connections between the hotel and the Kennedy family. Jackie Kennedy and her children visited the hotel in the 1960s, the story goes – prompting Jimmy Cullinane, Head Waiter  at the time, to write a poem in memory of Robert & John F. Kennedy.

Their brother Edward Kennedy subsequently wrote a note to Jimmy expressing his appreciation on behalf of the Kennedy Family.

An original copy of the poem, the appreciation letter with envelope as well as an excerpt from the House of Representatives mentioning another poem written by Jimmy Cullinane, are on view outside the suite.

The Victorian-style suite  is designed with traditional fabrics, period paintings, a Waterford Crystal chandelier and antique furniture. The bathroom boasts double sinks set in mahogany stands.

A little slice of Camelot in Ireland, and it’s available on Valentine’s Day special – along with dinner and spa treatments, from €550 per couple.
